The 2024 Computable Awards: Mendix Is Nominated!

The Computable Awards recognize Dutch companies, projects, and people who exhibit unmatched excellence. The 19th annual Computable Awards ceremony will be held on November 27, 2024.

Mendix and its partners are honored to be among the nominees in four of the sixteen categories. Please read about these fantastic projects below. We humbly ask for your vote—thank you in advance!

Future of Work: Mendix 10

Mendix packs cutting-edge GenAI technology and user-friendly collaboration touchpoints into its tenth release. Mendix 10 brings new and creative ways to build better apps faster. Some features, like the ML Kit, use machine learning and AI-assisted workflows.

The tenth release also introduces Mendix Connect. With Mendix Connect, users can easily compose low-code applications on top of their existing stack. All integration and connectivity capabilities are provided out-of-the-box.

Mendix 10 is nominated in the category of Future of Work.

Large Projects: ASML

Advanced Semiconductor Materials Lithography (ASML) is the leading supplier of technology hardware to the semiconductor industry.

ASML is undertaking a sweeping low-code transformation. Using Mendix, ASML is reviewing its technical system environment for optimization opportunities.

First, ASML’s dev team researches and determines which applications are still valuable. Then, they integrate, replace, and extend old applications with Mendix.

Mendix, the leader in low-code application development, is also owned by Siemens. That provides an added benefit for ASML, whose production plants run on SAP and Siemens PLM.

For this, Computable nominates ASML in the category of Large projects.

Large Project: TachoTracker

PostNL Transport processes, sorts, and delivers more than 7 million letters and 1.5 million parcels daily. This includes managing eCommerce-driven growth and a processing system across 30 sorting centers. PostNL has built more than 70 applications on the Mendix low-code platform to manage all this.

One of these is a TachoTracker application. This helps comply with commercial speed regulations and improve tachograph operations and reporting. The application automatically processes, analyzes, and reports tachograph violations. Results go directly to drivers and their managers.

Computable has nominated PostNL for an award in the Large projects category.

Digital Innovation: Brandweer Rotterdam-Rijnmond

In collaboration with safety regions Zuid Holland-Zuid, the Unified Fire Brigade, and JAM-IT, the Rotterdam-Rijnmond fire department developed a life-saving app. The Decision Support app makes the first response safer and more efficient.

Decision Support integrates all available and relevant informational sources. This ensures every aspect of an emergency is handled with care. Data includes biometrics, building blueprints and maps, and weather data.

This app helps save lives, prevent damage, and improve first responder safety. For that, Computable nominates Robbert Heinecke and the Rotterdam-Rijnmond safety collective for a Digital Innovation award.

Digital Innovation: Meijer Potato, Emixa, Mendix, Boomi, Solace and Databricks

Low-code application development can even help build a better potato.

When Meijer Potato wants to produce a new varietal, it needs a tool to manage all the variables.

The Mendix-built Meijer Potato app automates the selection process. This includes integrating with Boomi, Solace, and Databricks services. From there, advanced technical models create the perfect spud.

Computable has nominated Meijer Potato for an award in the Digital Innovation category.

IT Talent: Matthijs de Boer

Royal BAM Group is the Netherlands’ most prominent construction services company. Matthijs de Boer is their lead Mendix developer. As an app development specialist, de Boer’s impact is visible across the enterprise. His DigiFlow software applications for Infra Energy & Water (E&W) are particularly impactful.

Digiflow enables geographically dispersed BAM Group employees to optimize operations for home-based customers. For over five years, de Boer has built end-to-end Mendix solutions. These reduce human error and increase productivity.

Computable has nominated Matthijs de Boer in the category of IT talent.
