New and improved user interface
With this release, we’ve enhanced the platform’s native mobile, PWA, AR/VR, and responsive web capabilities to ensure you can deliver intuitive, seamless experiences across all touchpoints. These updates are especially critical for (Gen)AI applications, where natural, fluid interactions are key to engaging users and maximizing the value of AI-driven solutions. By enabling rich, user-friendly interfaces on any device or channel, you can create applications that feel effortless while meeting the high expectations of today’s digital-first world.
Workflows
Workflows are ideal for managing large, structured processes like obtaining an insurance quote which can span multiple steps while blending human and system tasks. These stable, predictable processes are perfect for automation. Improvements to our workflow features in 10.18 will make it easier for organizations to handle these complex situations smoothly and with less effort.
This release introduces Workflow Boundary Events to further streamline process management. This will support both non-interrupting and interrupting event types for flexible, real-world process modeling that requires precise timing or conditional task interruptions, without reverting to microflow-based modeling.
Build the future
Creating a strong foundation for innovation means breaking down barriers and building connections. In this release, we’ve focused on streamlining communication between business and IT, strengthening data integration, and expanding multilingual support. With added languages like Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and German, along with others, your teams can collaborate more effectively and deliver solutions that resonate globally.
Empowering business and IT partnerships
Strengthened collaboration between business and IT teams is another key focus in this release, with new tools for feedback integration and data management. The redesigned App Insights Feedback Module enables seamless feedback collection, which can be directly linked to project enhancements, ensuring that user insights guide application development. With unparalleled customization, it enables organizations to tailor the feedback experience to match each brand’s look and feel, including customizable UX, styling, and messaging.
Additionally, feedback can be sent directly to tools like Jira or Zendesk, making it easy to manage and act on insights without additional tools. This integrated approach streamlines the ability to measure the impact of developments, gauge user satisfaction, and ensure that apps continuously evolve based on real user feedback—all within Mendix. This will also help organizations gain a better understanding of the business case for smart apps.
Multilingual support
Mendix 10.18 introduces many multilingual capabilities, including Studio Pro supporting Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and German languages. Additionally, there is support for the ability to ask Maia Chat questions in different languages and receive answers in the same language. This allows developers to better understand the meaning of different actions in Studio Pro, enabling them to develop faster and more effectively.
Data integration
Exciting improvements to our data integration capabilities will simplify data aggregation, provide easy integration with Snowflake’s GenAI model, and ease connecting to external data sources and services.
With support for Snowflake Arctic and Cortex Analyst, Mendix customers can leverage efficient, open-source large language models for generating insights and enabling natural language queries to simplify data analysis, empowering businesses to make data-driven decisions more efficiently.
Lastly, the External Database Connector supports a broader range of databases. We’ve improved its SQL Stored Procedures, reducing the complexity of database management, enhancing performance, and increasing security by enabling efficient, consistent, and controlled operations.
