Application or App
means the software application, for which the Application Model has been created by Customer or per Customer’s instructions and requirements by a third party, making use of the Mendix Platform and has been deployed into an App Environment for test, acceptance or production – either in Mendix Cloud, Mendix Cloud Dedicated (Mendix Cloud Foundry Cluster), Mendix for Private Cloud or Server-based Deployment and Mendix for SAP BTP Deployment (the available “Deployment Scenarios”).
App Environment
Apps can be deployed to one or multiple App Environments for example in test, acceptance and production; types of environments are interchangeable. The number of Apps stated on the Order Form or counted towards the subscription entitlement refers to the maximum number of production App Environments.
Named User
equals an Application User, means an individual authorized by Customer to have access to Customer’s Applications with unique login credentials which can be used to identify one specific individual, as well as any external system that accesses or is accessed by the Application. The subscription details in the Order set forth the Entitlements related to Application Users and applicable fees.
Internal User
means a Named User who is an employee or contractor of Customer or an affiliated company within the group of companies or conglomerate to which Customer belongs.
External User
means a Named User who is not an employee or contractor of Customer or an affiliated company within the group of companies or conglomerate to which Customer belongs, and is designated as an External User in Mendix Platform.
Cloud Tokens
Cloud Tokens means virtual tokens that can be used on the Mendix Cloud Platform (via the Control Center) to consume cloud resource related products e.g. Cloud Resource Packs based on the token count as detailed in the Documentation.
Deployment Scenarios explained:
- Mendix Cloud: (use our cloud) deploy Apps on the public cloud operated by Mendix.
- Mendix for Private Cloud: (bring your own cloud) deploy Apps on a Kubernetes-based (virtual) private cloud operated by Customer.
- Mendix Cloud Dedicated (Mendix Cloud Foundry Cluster): (get our cloud) deploy apps on Mendix Cloud running in Customer’s AWS VPC operated by Mendix. Note: cloud resources to be separately furnished by Customer through its own AWS contract.
- Mendix for Server-based Deployment: (bring your own infrastructure) deploy Apps on Windows or Linux servers / VMs / Docker containers operated by Customer. Note: this refers to the server-based deployment of the Mendix runtime engine on-premises; development services like the Mendix Portal, Mendix Studio, AppStore and Team Server are provided as a hosted solution.
- Mendix for SAP BTP Deployment: (Use SAP’s Cloud) Deploy apps on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) operated by SAP.
Advanced Audit Trail App Service
Advanced Audit Trail App Service allows to trace changes, use infinitely scalable and fully-indexed data search. Once configured, the system automatically creates audit snapshots of objects to store in an audit trail. This audit trail is sent to a long-term data storage within the Mendix Cloud infrastructure, and therefore supports complex search queries and won’t affect the performance of the Mendix Operational Database.

Legacy Users
Anonymous User
means an individual authorized by Licensee to access the App without unique login credentials, as well as any external system that accesses or is accessed by the App.
Any App User
means a Named User or Anonymous User which has access to any or all Apps on the App Platform under one account where a login by the same Named User from multiple devices is counted as one user. Any App Users are defined as users that are accessing Apps, deployed on the App Platform within a given calendar day as well as any external system that accesses or is accessed by the App. Calendar days are determined by the time zone of the platform license. There is no limit to the actual Named Users.
Concurrent User
means the total number of users (Named and Anonymous) that simultaneously access a specific App.
Named User
means an individual authorized by Customer to access one or multiple Apps with unique login credentials which can be used to identify one specific individual, as well as any external system that accesses or is accessed by the App.
Light User
means a Named User who accesses one (1) or multiple Apps on average once per week (or less) as measured over a quarterly period. If the number of Light Users exceeds the number included in the subscription, Mendix reserves the right to charge for overage.
Regular User
means a Named User with no restriction on number of logins.
Internal User
means a Named User who is an employee or contractor of the organization subscribing to Mendix, and/or a Named User who is not an employee or contractor of the organization subscribing to Mendix but frequently accesses one or multiple Apps.
External User
means a Named User who is not an employee or contractor of the organization subscribing to Mendix, and incidentally uses one or multiple Apps running in a production App Environment. Incidental use means that the user logs in no more than once a week for a maximum of thirty (30) minutes. Internal Users can be converted to External Users at a ratio of 1:10.
Application Test Suite (ATS)
Application Test Suite (ATS) is a suite of tools for embedding (automated) testing into the application lifecycle. These tools are built by CLEVR in Mendix on top of Selenium.
