2024 Dutch IT Channel Awards: Mendix Nominated Again

(Rotterdam, The Netherlands) Mendix, in collaboration with our customer, the Dutch Emissions Authority (NEa) and partner CLEVR, is pleased to announce a 2024 Dutch IT Channel Awards nomination for Govtech Innovator of the Year. This recognition highlights the collaboration on the groundbreaking Emissiehandelsportaal (EHP), a project revolutionizing efficiency and compliance in government IT.
Transforming Complexity into Simplicity
NEa is pivotal in reducing CO₂ emissions by managing the European Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). To navigate the system’s complexity and ensure compliance, the NEa partnered with Mendix and CLEVR to build the Emissiehandelsportaal (EHP) on the Mendix low-code platform.
Before implementing EHP, NEa relied on multiple Excel formats, resulting in inefficiencies, errors, and high administrative workloads. The EHP solved these challenges by automating processes and enabling structured, secure, and compliant data handling.
Key to the EHP’s success is its flexibility. The platform rapidly adapts to regulatory changes, such as introducing the CO₂ Heffings Register (CHeR), which was seamlessly developed and integrated within four months.
Delivering Real Results
- 100% Compliance: In 2023, every company met the critical March 31 reporting deadline.
- High Satisfaction: User surveys rated the EHP an impressive 7.5 from company representatives and 8.1 from year-report inspectors.
- Efficiency Gains: Workflow automation replaced manual tasks, reducing errors and saving significant time.
Why EHP Sets a New Standard
The EHP exemplifies the transformative power of low-code development. By integrating with systems like eHerkenning (national eID) and the Chamber of Commerce database, NEa now operates with real-time, accurate data, reducing manual effort while improving data quality.
Powered by Collaboration
This achievement was made possible by the strategic partnership between Mendix and CLEVR. Together, the two utilized agile methodologies to deliver scalable, future-proof solutions tailored to the NEa’s needs. This approach not only addressed current challenges but also laid a foundation for long-term sustainability goals.
Why This Nomination Matters
The nomination for Govtech Innovator of the Year recognizes Mendix’s commitment to enabling innovation in public IT. Projects like the EHP demonstrate how technology can solve real-world challenges while driving progress toward global environmental goals.
