Mendix Named a Leader 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Enterprise Low-Code Application Development Platforms For The Eighth Consecutive Year*

BOSTON (USA) – October 21, 2024 – Mendix, a Siemens business, announced it has once again been named a Leader in the newly released 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Enterprise Low-Code Application Development Platforms (LCAP). The 2024 report marks the eighth consecutive year that Mendix has been named a Leader by Gartner and the second consecutive year of being positioned highest on the Ability to Execute axis.

According to this year’s report1, “By 2029, enterprise LCAPs will be used for mission-critical application development in 80% of businesses globally, up from 15% in 2024.” A separate Gartner study predicts that “by 2028, the use of generative AI will reduce the cost of modernizing legacy applications by 30% from 2023 levels”2.

Mendix believes that the combination of those factors points to just how important the synergy of low-code, AI, and generative AI will be for the enterprise and that the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ market evaluation of Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms is essential for enterprises to understand the current state.

Further, a recent survey shows that 75% of technical C-suite executives believe the C-suite views low-code as the future of coding. Enterprises need to understand the available options.

Execution, Innovation, Optimization

Mendix believes its position in the Leaders Quadrant as highest on the Ability to Execute axis is supported by the platform’s inherent ability to handle urgent needs across the enterprise. Thousands of enterprises worldwide have adopted Mendix to leverage best-of-breed experiences, deployment flexibility, integration, and the ability to innovate with technologies like AI and GenAI.

“The speed of change in the Enterprise took a sizable leap in the past year as Generative AI dominated IT agendas,” said Raymond Kok, Mendix CEO. “The enterprise low code platform market was no different. With continued integrations of AI and GenAI tools into the platform, We believe Mendix continues to be at the forefront of getting innovative tools into the hands of our customers.”

Efficiency at Scale

Mendix believes that much of the Mendix track record of success stems from the combination of our market-leading platform coupled with our digital execution practice of start, structure, scale.

“[During] the start phase, we looked at quick wins and team building,” reported Lena Hermle, head of low-code/no-code & automation practice at Mendix customer Siemens. “In the structure phase, we were looking at governance and documentation. In the scaling phase, we looked at the reusability of applications, scaling the developer community, and our ecosystem as a whole.”

By helping organizations develop better software, faster across the enterprise, Mendix believes it helps position enterprises for present and future success. Albert Clement, head of solution development at G4S, said, “By modernizing our systems and application landscape with Mendix, we can future-proof our business. We will only realize that by rapidly delivering digital transformation projects and staying one step ahead of our competitors.”

The Mendix commitment to efficiency is complemented by a commitment to governance throughout the SDLC. Speed requires governance to ensure compliant, secure development and Mendix believes its’ suite of tools helps to reduce risk and maximize value.

Commitment to Innovation

Mendix believes that working with the Mendix platform offers enterprises a subscription to innovation, including ways to integrate AI throughout software development.

Gartner analysts predict that by 2027, 40% of platform engineering teams will use AI to augment every phase of the software development lifecycle, compared with 5% in 20233.

With Mendix AI Assistance (Maia), the Mendix ML Kit, and connections to AWS Bedrock, ChatGPT, and numerous other industry-leading AI capabilities, Mendix is well-positioned to harness AI to elevate efficiency, build smarter apps, and build apps smarter.

Mendix customer datascalehr used the platform to rapidly deliver an AI-native global payroll platform. According to datascalehr CTO and co-founder Nicolas Delord, “The fact that the [Mendix] platform can add AI to the existing stack by way of integrations is powerful.”

Innovating Beyond the Boundaries of Low-Code

A Gartner forecast4 says that, “by 2026, demands for greater velocity in application delivery with low engineering input, continued scarcity of tech talent, and growing hybrid or borderless workforce will accelerate the adoption of low-code development technologies across large and midsize organizations.” Mendix believes it’s more important than ever for enterprises to select low-code platforms that can help execute now and in the future.

For 20 years, Mendix has helped organizations get more done with its’ blend of collaboration, governance, integrations, and innovations. We believe that integrating AI and GenAI across the platform and the SDLC is the next step in our evolution. By allowing for scale across the enterprise, Mendix brings efficiencies and helps maximize ROI. In short, Mendix is uniquely positioned to turn ideas into outcomes.
